The Laconia Spartans proved their mettle on a soggy Friday night, dominating North Fond du Lac in a 34-16 win at the Laconia Football Field. Despite the relentless rain, the Spartan offense remained clinical, striking early with a 6-0 lead in the first quarter and extending the margin to 22-0 by halftime. Laconia head coach Chris Morgan praised his team's ball security during the inclement weather, noting, 'I was really proud of the way the kids handled the weather conditions. It was a steady rain all night and we never put the ball on the ground once. That was huge.' On the ground, the Spartans leaned on a heavy rushing attack featuring Landon Schumacher, who punched in two touchdowns, and Paul Pontow, who added another score. Quarterback Asher Morgan proved highly efficient, connecting on all three of his passing attempts to keep the chains moving and the defense on their heels. The victory was largely built in the trenches, where the Spartan line dictated the pace of the game from the opening kickoff. Though North Fond du Lac found some success in the fourth quarter against reserve players, the game was never truly in doubt. Coach Morgan remained focused on the strong performance of his starters, stating, 'I'm really proud of the guys up front. I thought we dominated the line of scrimmage all night. NFDL got a couple scores late against our JV kids, but our starters were really dominating.' With this 18-point victory, the Spartans continue to build momentum as they progress through the heart of their schedule. --- BOX SCORE North Fond du Lac High School 16 | Laconia Spartans 34 1st Quarter: — 6 2nd Quarter: — 16 3rd Quarter: — 6 4th Quarter: 16 — 6 Passing Leaders Laconia Spartans: #11 Asher Morgan (3/3 Cmp/Att, 72 Yds, 1 TD) Rushing Leaders Laconia Spartans: #6 Nick Starbird (17 Car, 89 Yds, 0 TD); #32 Landon Schumacher (13 Car, 84 Yds, 2 TD); #3 Paul Pontow (8 Car, 55 Yds, 1 TD) Receiving Leaders Laconia Spartans: #2 Kash Lemmenes (1 Rec, 38 Yds, 0 TD); #7 Tillman Madigan (1 Rec, 29 Yds, 1 TD); #32 (1 Rec, 5 Yds, 0 TD) --- "I was really proud of the way the kids handled the weather conditions.
