In a hard-hitting contest on September 18, the Campbellsport Cougars secured a narrow 12-10 win in a defensive struggle against the visiting Mayville Cardinals. The home team relied on explosive bursts from Cullan Flasch, who proved efficient with his 59 yards on just four carries. Meanwhile, Carter Gellings led the charge for the Cougars' defense, racking up an impressive 13 tackles to neutralize the Cardinals' momentum. Mayville fought hard on the ground, led by Joe Promersberger’s workhorse performance of 119 rushing yards and a touchdown on 27 carries. Despite the efforts of quarterback Cooper Raddemann and receiver Covyn Casper, who hauled in two catches for 24 yards, the Cardinals could not overcome the staunch Campbellsport front line. Weston Teeters stood out for Mayville defensively, contributing seven tackles and two tackles for loss in the losing effort. Ultimately, Campbellsport’s ability to bend but not break in the final minutes proved the difference as they walked away with a hard-earned two-point victory.
