The atmosphere was electric at Campbellsport High School on August 21 as the home team squared off against Kettle Moraine Lutheran in a hard-fought gridiron battle. Kettle Moraine Lutheran established control early behind the versatile play of Jonah Kruse, who proved nearly unstoppable with 122 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Despite a gritty effort from the Cougars, the visiting offense proved too much to handle in the decisive 27-16 win. The Charger defense also stood tall, headlined by Justus Clopton’s remarkable 16-tackle performance, which included an incredible six tackles for loss. Campbellsport remained competitive throughout the contest thanks to Chris Taddey, who punched in a rushing touchdown and added 49 yards on the ground. Carter Gellings showed poise for the home side, throwing for 68 yards and hauling in a fumble recovery while recording 12 tackles on the defensive side of the ball. Levi Bentz was a bright spot in the passing game, hauling in two receptions for 58 yards, but it was not enough to overcome the efficient scoring output from the visitors. Kettle Moraine Lutheran leaves town with a well-earned victory, while the Cougars will look to regroup following a promising but challenging season debut.
