The Lomira Lions kicked off their season in spectacular fashion Friday night, shutting out Milwaukee King 24-0 at Lomira High School. A stout Lions defense stifled any momentum the visiting Knights attempted to build, while a balanced offensive attack found the end zone multiple times to secure a commanding victory. Junior running back Hunter Schaumberg was a force on the ground and through the air, leading the Lions' charge. Schaumberg powered his way to 88 rushing yards on 16 carries, crossing the goal line twice. He also added 60 receiving yards on two catches, showcasing his versatility and impact on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Keegan Kell also contributed significantly to the Lions' scoring efforts. Kell completed 6 of his 8 passes for 93 yards, and added a crucial rushing touchdown to his stat line, demonstrating effective playmaking. The defense was anchored by Cole Geiger, who recorded 8 tackles and snagged an interception, effectively shutting down Milwaukee King's offensive aspirations. The Lions' strong performance sets a positive tone for the season, highlighting their potential with a dominant shutout and a balanced offensive output. The team will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup.
